Classroom placements are now finalized in PowerSchool, our student data system used to complete digital enrollment. We have instructions on our website for logging in, changing a password (if needed), and locating your child’s teacher. We ask all families, who are able, to sign into PowerSchool before the open house and follow instructions for finding teacher assignments.
Once you have learned your classroom placement, you can then find teacher welcome letters on our website for each of our lead educators. Check out their letter to “meet” them, to find out the location of their room, and to learn a bit about the beginning of the year in their space.
Can’t access PowerSchool? Contact Ms. Kristin B or call the front office (812.558.0041) and she will be very happy to help. Just remember that lots of phone calls and emails come in during these moments leading up to the first day, so patience and kindness are greatly appreciated!
Things we hope families will keep in mind as they learn classroom placements:
When creating class lists, we must consider a balance of grade levels, gender, strengths and needs, established relationships, input from teachers and families, the building of new connections, and more. When possible, we keep students with the same educator during their multiage span. Sometimes a family shares a request or asks for a change that we aren't able to make without dislocating another student. Due to the diverse criteria we must take into account, some families may not end up with the teacher they had hoped their child would be with this year.
We consider every single piece of input received, and work to create class lists that result in wonderful learning communities. We are proud to have such an amazing teaching team, with educators who work collaboratively and who often share students for different experiences throughout the day. We believe that all children can grow and thrive in their classroom.
If we were unable to place two students together as requested, we will work to create opportunities for shared lunch and recess, allowing for these friendships to continue to flourish.
